Scandinavian Journal of Surgery

The Scandinavian Journal of Surgery is a peer-reviewed English-language scientific journal owned by the Finnish Society of Surgery and published by SAGE. It publishes original scientific articles, review articles including special issues on a specific topic with 6-10 review articles, and a special section on surgical tips and tricks entitled “How we do it”. The journal publishes articles from all fields of surgery.

 

The journal receives about 250 submissions annually, the current rejection rate is 80%. The journal is published in four issues per annum.

 

The current Impact factor is 1.533 and the journal is ranked as 74/200 in the surgery category. A soon as articles are accepted, they are published on-line and are available free of charge through a link from PubMed. In addition, every article of the journal can be freely accessed upon publication through the website at http://sjs.sagepub.com/. Every month about 15.000 full text articles are downloaded.

 

The Editor-in-Chief is Ari Leppäniemi from Helsinki University Hospital. Associated Editors include representatives from Finland (Hannu Kuokkanen, Heikki Kröger, Pauli Puolakkainen, Paulina Salminen), Sweden (Henrik Thorlacius, Peter Stålberg) and Norway (Jon Arne Söreide). The Editorial Board consists of known experts world-wide.
